A contemporary fantasy/western. Cleo (O’Driscoll) is the young heiress to a family of bearded women who act as matriarchs in a curious performance community who live on the outskirts of society. Once a traveling show, the community has set up a permanent post in the rural west and has weekly shows where regular citizens come for entertainment. As Cleo grows up, she starts to lose the excitement of her inherited position and she feels stifled by the expectations of her exacting mother, Lady Andre, and the demanding responsibilities of her role as their future leader. Cleo shaves her beard in an act of defiance and is banished by Lady Andre, so she sets out to make a life for herself in the wide world. Will Cleo find the acceptance she is seeking, or will she be forced to confront herself and her past? (July 17 – August 18)
