Department Summary The Student Services and Enrollment Management (SSEM) Strategic Communications and Marketing team is charged with telling the University of Oregon’s stories to a broad range of audiences and positioning the division and university to succeed and thrive. The team serves all the departments and programs in SSEM as well as Student Life. Strategic Communications and Marketing provides creative services for writing, editing, design, production, and digital communications ensuring materials are accurate, well written, well designed, conform to the UO style guidelines and communication standards, in line with priorities, follow branding and licensing guidelines, are targeted to appropriate audiences, and are clearly the product of a distinguished institution of higher education. Position Summary The purpose of the Photographer/Videographer position is to provide quality and consistent video and photo assets for Strategic Communications and Marketing. This position reports to the assistant director for Strategic Communications and Marketing. They work collaboratively with the entire team, including the other photographer-videographer, the assistant director for digital strategy, the director, and a team of student photo-video assistants. They also will work alongside all professionals and student staff members within SSEM, the UO, or any outside partners. This position has a flexible work schedule: may need to work evenings or weekends. Minimum Requirements Three years of television production videography experience. A broad range of work experience may be considered applicable to meeting this qualification, such as multimedia producing, professional videography/photography, and/or live event photography/videography, motion graphics, or coordination of similar work. Examples of relevant work experience that could qualify include but are not limited to short/long-form video production, documentary filmmaking, live event photography/videography, motion graphics, photo editing, landscape photography, portrait photography, social media video/photo advertisement, etc. If you are unsure if your experience is related, we encourage you to apply! Professional Competencies Expert proficiency in professional video editing software (Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere) and other video editing software, such as AfterEffects Expert proficiency in photo processing software including Lightroom, Photoshop, and Capture One Strong passion for and knowledge of technology, emerging media, and interactive strategy Commitment to and experience with promoting and enhancing diversity and equity including an ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, such as Illustrator, Media Encoder, Bridge, and Audition Outstanding project management and organizational skills Ability to bring a strategic orientation to daily work and decision-making Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines Strong oral and written communication skills Frequent deadlines require a high level of accuracy and efficiency Patience, tact, resourcefulness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in communications, including photography and video production Experience and knowledge of mirrorless cameras including Sony and Black Magic Experience creating digital audio and video files for the web Experience and knowledge of camera lens functions Experience with social media and how to prepare digital files Bachelor’s degree in a related field Knowledge of and experience with project management software Experience mentoring or supervising Experience with live-streaming software Experience with survey software FLSA Exempt: No All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background inquiry.
