SYNOPSIS:
Sahar is an ambitious international Iranian student who takes to the streets of Vancouver in support of the female-led revolution in her home country, but her activism compromises her student visa in Canada. She must find a way to stay or face severe consequences.

South Asian female, Iranian Must speak English & Farsi. 20 to 30 years old. Sahar is a young Iranian woman who is an ambitious international student from Iran whose life gets thrown into turmoil after the death of Mahsa Amini. In her support for the female-led revolution far away from home, her future gets compromised when she loses her financial support and has to find a way to stay in Canada; otherwise, an uncertain future awaits her.

MAMAN – PRINCIPAL ROLE – FEMALE – 50-65 YRS OLD – SOUTH ASIAN
MUST SPEAK FARSI

South Asian female, 50 to 65 years old, ( Must speak Farsi ) Maman is a middle-aged Iranian woman who has sacrificed all her dreams in life for her daughter, Sahar. Her husband’s death has shaken Maman’s life. As a widowed Iranian woman, life gets complicated, but she has to stay strong for her daughter abroad. In the age of technology, when her only way of communicating with her daughter in Canada is through video chats, the national internet shutdown in Iran causes incredible stress to her already unstable life. MAMAN ONLY APPEARS ON SAHAR’S PHONE SCREEN.

AHMAD – PRINCIPAL ROLE – MALE – 45-65 YRS OD – SOUTH ASIAN
MUST SPEAK FARSI AND ENGLISH

South Asian male, 45 to 65 years old, Must speak Farsi & English Ahmad is a middle-aged Iranian man who moved to Canada during the Iraq and Iran war. In his search for a home in Vancouver, he opened the first Persian grocery store in North Van. Sahar works at Ahmad’s grocery store, and her rebellious actions scare Ahmad about the possibility of losing his little Iranian heaven.

A sassy little kid who doesn’t take no for an answer. Her street art and playful spells that bewitch her neighbours are her tools for survival as a young illegal immigrant with a single mom.

MATT – PRINCIPAL ROLE – MALE – 20-30 YRS OLD – ANY ETHNICITY 
Matt is a bit of a dreamer who sees beauty in everything. A privileged young man who believes anyone is capable of flying in the sky. His normal trauma-free childhood is a significant contributor to his personality.

TAMMY – FEMALE – 20-31 YRS OLD – IRANIAN CANADIAN
MUST SPEAK FARSI AND ENGLISH

Tammy is a young first-generation Iranian Canadian. She has always been othered not only in her Canadian community but also in her Iranian family. She is still searching for a home anywhere she goes.

UNCLE MASOUD – VOICE OVER ROLE
MUST SPEAK FARSI

A middle-aged Iranian man who grew up in the shadow of his older brother. After his older brother’s death, he finds himself on the stage of life without a director.
