POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Videographer/Photographer will provide professional photography services in support of public affairs activities, capturing and delivering high-quality images that document military operations, command events, ceremonies, and studio sessions. This role requires expertise in journalistic photography, adherence to Department of Defense (DoD) standards, and proficiency in digital photography and post-production processes.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEvent and Studio Photography

• Provide photography services for indoor and outdoor settings, covering military training operations, command events, ceremonies, and studio sessions.
• Ensure all images align with the mission and requirements of the Office of Public Affairs.

Journalistic Photography Standards

• Capture images in a journalistic style consistent with Associated Press (AP) standards using digital still camera systems.
• Edit, crop, and caption photographs using Adobe Creative Suite to ensure they meet professional quality and compliance standards.

Photo Archiving and Distribution

• Archive all photographs on the Government’s internal shared drive by the end of the next business day following the event.
• Upload approved photographs to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) website as directed by the Government.

Captioning and Metadata

• Provide accurate and detailed captions for all images to ensure proper context for use on social media and DVIDS, adhering to DoD standards.
• Assign Visual Information Reference Identification Numbers (VIRINs) to photos following governing style guidelines.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Ensure all photography-related deliverables meet established quality and regulatory standards.
• Follow government directives regarding the use, archiving, and distribution of visual content.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience in professional photography, with a focus on journalistic or event photography.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for photo editing, cropping, and captioning.
• Familiarity with military or government protocols and standards, including DVIDS and VIRINs.
• Strong organizational skills to manage photo archiving and timely submissions.
• Excellent attention to detail in photo captioning and metadata application.
• Bachelor’s degree in photography, visual arts, or a related field (preferred).
