ABOUT WORLDVIEW FILMS
Worldview Films is an Emmy-nominated boutique film production studio specializing in documentaries about climate, renewable energy and inspiring stories with a positive perspective on the world. We are the main production studio for the burgeoning offshore wind industry in the US and are growing in other renewable energy fields as well.
Worldview Films is in production of a 40-minute documentary about the first large offshore wind project in the US. We also produce a number of short web-based branded documentaries each month about offshore wind and other subjects.
These stories follow the forefront of the energy transition on the East Coast – the way things go in the US will have a major impact on how quickly humanity is able to solve the climate crisis. One of the main hurdles is political opposition. Worldview Films has been tasked with telling the hopeful story of renewable energy – and in turn, the energy transition – in order to show the benefits for humanity and counter misinformation from political and industrial opponents.
This puts us on the field with the major players working to solve the climate crisis. We’ve got unparalleled access to these leaders – and they depend on us to tell their stories to a broad audience.
We are also in early development of a 30-minute episodic series on solving the climate crisis, as well as a feature-length documentary.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Worldview Films is growing rapidly and we are currently hiring a full time Senior Editor. You will be in charge of the editing process at our small but growing company.
You’ll have the support of producers and other editors and you will be expected to make sure our production workflow and systems are efficient and conducive to creative projects. Sometimes the whole team wears many hats to get the projects done to an excellent level.
We’ve filmed offshore wind for over two years and have kept our footage organized to streamline the creative process. Part of your job will be to become intimately familiar with this footage and help come up with creative stories we can tell using our current footage as well as ideas for new footage we can film to help fill out these stories. You’ll have lots of opportunities to pitch story ideas and will have a front row seat at some of the most exciting moments of the energy transition.
You should be able to demonstrate an ability to create content that can elicit a feeling of strong emotions and awe. We want to leave people feeling inspired and excited after they watch our films.
We are also producing internal social content about our work and continue pitching shows and documentaries, so you’ll also be editing sizzle reels and web-based content. You’ll be welcome to join on shoots as well depending on your interest and if it helps our storytelling process.
You’ll be in a position that can grow rapidly, getting in on the ground floor. You should be able to work hard, be a self-starter, know how to take ownership of projects and be proactive. You’ll report directly to the founder and CEO.
It’s a fast-paced work environment, but always exciting and interesting. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important to us and we work hard while we do it. You’ll get in on the ground floor and be in a position to grow as quickly as the company does, working closely with the founder. The job is in-person in New York City.
